An inverted kalash of silver, copper, or bronze is placed on a bamboo pole to create the Gudi, and the bamboo is further embellished with lovely cloth (usually, it is saffron coloured and made of silk with a brocade border). Then, gathi (a garland of sugar crystals), neem leaves, a mango twig, and red flower garlands are used to embellish the Gudi.
